James Thorsteinson was first elected MLA for Cut Knife-Turtleford in 2024. A third-generation rancher, he has spent most of his life working in agriculture along with contract work in the oilfield, and served as President of the Saskatchewan Party from 2014 to 2023. A longtime 4-H member and strong advocate for mental health, he has volunteered as a judge at local Achievement Days and served on the board of the Libbie Young Center in Lloydminster. Thorsteinson lives on his cattle ranch north of Maidstone with his wife Lana; they have three sons.
He serves as Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture.
